High Season (01.05.2013-30.09.2013)

1st day

  • Arrival in St. Petersburg. Welcome reception at the airport/railway/bus station.
  • Transfer to the hotel accompanied by a qualified English-speaking guide.
  • Hotel check-in.
  • Spare time in the city.

2nd day "The first capital of Russia"

  • Breakfast in the hotel.

  • Departure from St. Petersburg to Old Ladoga.

  • Tour around Old Ladoga. The ancient fortress, Viking burial mounds and the burial place of Varangian Prince Oleg of Novgorod, the Cathedral of St. George, monasteries of St. Nickolas, St. John the Baptist and Holy Assumption of Holy Virgin Mary, the Museum of merchants’ everyday life.

  • Lunch. Free time in the town.

  • Departure to St. Petersburg.

3rd day "The origin of Russian democracy"

  • Breakfast in the hotel.

  • Departure from St. Petersburg to Great Novgorod.

  • Tour around Great Novgorod. Novgorod Kremlin, St. Sophia Cathedral, "Millennium of Russia" Monument, the former main square of the town "Yaroslav’s Court". Volkhov River.

  • Lunch.

  • Continuation of the tour around Great Novgorod. St. George Monastery, the Museum of the Wooden Architecture "Vitoslavlitsy". Free time in the town.

  • Departure to St. Petersburg.

4th day "The reign of Peter I – the period of great reforms"

  • Breakfast in the hotel.

  • City tour. Ride along the Neva Embankment and Nevsky Avenue, passing the Bronze Horseman, Academy of Arts, St. Petersburg University and the Field of Mars, around the Theatre Square (Mariinsky "Kirov" Opera and Ballet House), Ostrovsky Square (Alexander Theatre) and the Square of Arts (Michael Theatre and Russian Museum). Photo-stops on the Spit of the Bazil Island, on St. Isaac Square, by the battle-ship "Aurora", near Smolny Institute and St Nickolas Naval Cathedral.

  • St. Peter and Paul Fortress. A walk around the territory, visit to St. Peter and Paul Cathedral – the burial place of Russian Tsars and Tsarinas. Visit to a former imperial political prison is also possible, if desired.

  • Summer Garden. Visit to the palace of Peter I in the Summer Garden.

  • Lunch.

  • "Peterhof" – the former summer residence of Russian Emperors, famous for its magnificent fountains. A walk around the Lower Garden and visit to two small palaces on its territory.

  • Return to the hotel.

5th day "The Golden age of Russian Empire"

  • Breakfast in the hotel.

  • The State Hermitage museum – one of the best art collections in the world. The Gala-rooms of the Winter palace, the collection of Italian Renaissance, Dutch, Flemish, Spanish old masters (Rembrandt, Rubens, Van Dyke, El Greco etc), French Impressionists.

  • Visit to the "Gold Room" – the special Hermitage treasury where one can find ancient gold archeological findings and imperial jewelry.

  • Lunch.

  • Imperial summer residence "Tsar Village". Visit to the Catherine Palace known worldwide for its unique Ember room. A walk around the park.

  • "Tsar Village". Alexander Palace – the former main official and private residence of the last Russian Tsar Nickolas II.

  • Return to the hotel.

6th day "Cultural and spiritual life of Tsars’ Russia"

  • Breakfast in the hotel.

  • The Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan - the main functioning Russian Orthodox church of St. Petersburg.

  • The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. The church is fully covered with mosaics from inside, built as a memorial to the Russian Emperor Alexander II on that very place where he had been mortally wounded by a terrorist.

  • St. Isaac Cathedral – the fourth tallest cupola construction in the world, the former main Russian Orthodox church of the country.

  • Lunch.

  • Russian Museum – the collection of Russian art starting with XII century icons and finishing with XX century abstract works.

  • Memorial apartment of the Great Russian author and poet Alexander Pushkin.

  • Return to the hotel.

7th day "Turbulent and severe XX century"

  • Breakfast in the hotel.

  • Yusupov Palace – before the October Revolution 1917 it used to belong to one of the wealthiest and most powerful noble families of Russia. Grand halls, private rooms, the exhibition rooms dedicated to the murder of Gregory Rasputin.

  • Cruiser "Aurora" – the battle-ship of the first half of the XX century, the symbol of the October Revolution 1917.

  • The State Museum of Political History of Russia (former mansion of the ballet dancer M. Kshesinskaya).

  • Lunch.

  • Memorial apartment of Serge Kirov - a famous Soviet political leader of 1920s-1930s.

  • Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery – the burial place of hundreds of thousands of the Leningrad Siege victims.

  • Return to the hotel.

8th day "Russia today"

  • Breakfast in the hotel.

  • The Underground.

  • "Kuznechny" food market.

  • A walk along Nevsky avenue. "Eliseevsky" super-market of XIX century/ "Gostinny dvor" ("Merchants’ arcade") Trading Center. Catherine Gardens.

  • Lunch. Free time in the city.

9th day

  • Breakfast in the hotel.
  • Check-out at the hotel.
  • Spare time in the city.
  • Airport/railway/bus station transfer.

Off Season (01.10.2013-01.05.2014)

The Off Season program is the same as the High Season one. The only difference is the excursions of the 4th day:

4 day "The reign of Peter I – the period of great reforms"

  • Breakfast in the hotel.

  • City tour.

  • St. Peter and Paul fortress.

  • Menshikov palace – the residence of the first St. Petersburg general-governor and one of the first stone buildings in the territory of the city.

  • Lunch.

  • Return to the hotel (if desired).

  • Spare time in the city.

 

*The insignificant changes in the program are possible for reasons beyond our control, without prejudice to the major amount and content of the excursions.

The price of the tour includes:

  • Welcome reception at the airport/railway station.

  • Transfer from the airport/railway station to the hotel and back accompanied by a qualified English-speaking guide.

  • Assistance by the hotel accommodation.

  • Eight nights in the hotel 3*, 4* or 5* (prices according to the category of the hotel).

  • Eight breakfasts in the hotel.

  • Excursions (the services of a qualified guide and air conditioned tour bus) according to the program.

  • Entrance tickets to all the museums in accordance with the program.

  • Organized tours in all the museums led either by your guide or by the museum guide with your guide’s interpretation.

  • Six lunches in St. Petersburg, one lunch in Great Novgorod and one lunch in the old Ladoga.

  • Long (10-12 hours including transfers) full day tours in Old Ladoga and Great Novgorod.

  • Radio-equipment (microphone and transmitters for the guide and earphones and receivers for tourists) that must be used inside all the museums by groups bigger than 7.

  • All local Russian Taxes.

 

The price of the tour DOES NOT includes:

  • Plane/ railway tickets outside of Russia (can be booked on request).

  • Russian visa (on request we can send you the official invitation for visa (“visa support”), then you will need to apply for visa at the local Russian Consulate with this document).

  • Personal insurances (can be processed on request).

  • Dinners (can be organized for extra charge 160 Euro per person for 6 dinners). 

  • Photo and/or video permits that are required in some museums (they can be booked, on request, or purchased in cash at the door).

  • Gratitudes to the guide (10% suggested) and the driver (5% suggested), to be given separately in cash (Euro, Rub or USD).

    NB1. Unless it’s specified in another way, the duration of a half-day tour is 4 hours; the duration of a whole day tour is 9 hours including lunch.

    NB2. It is possible to include in the program a boat trip trough rivers and canals of St. Petersburg.

    This additional tour costs one extra hour of guide/bus services + 10 € per person for a ticket.

The boat trip must be booked preliminary, as well as all the entrance tickets and the lunch.

NB4. All the prices are calculated for double room standard in the hotel of the corresponding category during the Season (16.04 – 14.05, 16.07 – 30.09).  For single rooms and Top/Low Season price corrections see the small attached tables.

NB5.  If the amount of people in a group is an uneven number, the price per person is the same as the one in a group of a previous even number (for example, the price per person in a group of seven people is the same as the price per person in a group of six people. See the tables). 

NB6. Lunch menu. We offer you lunches in different economy- and business-class restaurants of Saint-Petersburg. A lunch is the same for all members of the group. It includes a salad and/or a soup, a main dish and a desert. Mineral water, bread, tea or coffee is also included in the menu. We offer you dishes of Russian and European cuisine. If you are allergic to some kind of food, if you are a vegetarian, if you keep a fast or a diet, please inform us about that in details beforehand and we will organize your meals in the way to make you feel comfortable. A lunch lasts for about one hour. An order of not preliminary discussed extra dishes and drinks is to be paid in cash at the place.
